This past weekend we celebrated Oliver’s first Halloween, and it is no exaggeration to say that it was one of the best holiday weekends I have ever experienced!
We kicked off the weekend’s festivities at a friend’s Baby Halloween Costume Party. All of Oliver’s baby friends were there, and it was a total blast seeing him “work the room.” Vik, Auntie Sarah and I all agreed that the only thing that could have upped the cute-quotient at that party were baskets full of fluffy kittens!
We also agreed that Oliver’s social skills need a little work. Unfortunately, his idea of mixing and mingling involves pulling off other babies’ headpieces, stealing toys, and crawling and climbing over any obstacles in his way (including other babies) 😉
On Sunday, we headed out to the suburbs to Trick-or-Treat with our friends and their two kids. Oliver loved meeting all the neighbors and was not too shy or proud to dig through the candy bowls and pick out some goodies (unfortunately for Mommy, his idea of goodies frequently involved grabbing the lone Mike and Ikes or box of raisins).
All in all, it was a fun (and exhausting) weekend, filled with lots of laughter, good friends, cute babies, and enough sugar to keep me buzzed through New Years!
P.S. Had we known that Oliver would still be rockin’ the fangs this Halloween, we probably would have dressed him as Dracula, rather than sushi:
