Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.
I absolutely adore my grandparents; they have been an amazing source of unwavering love and abundant indulgence in my life. I am so happy on this Grandparent’s Day to know that Oliver is similarly blessed.
My Mom and Dad love Oliver so much and never hesitate to show it. My Mom (together with my Meemaw) flew all the way to Chicago from Virginia to watch Oliver for a few days while Vik and I jetted off to Las Vegas. My Dad is constantly picking up little treats for his “Big Boy” and makes sure he is outfitted in all the finest faux-military baby apparel. They “oooh and ahhhh” over Oliver on Skype at every available opportunity.
In July, Vik’s mom flew all the way from India (with a suitcase full of presents) to meet Oliver. He loved going outside with her to look at the trees and flowers and watch the buses and cars go by. She was definitely head over heels by the time she flew home.
Not only is Oliver blessed with loving grandparents, but he is lucky enough to have several great-grandparents wrapped around his perfect little pinky as well.
My Meemaw and PawPaw have brought so much love, support, and fun to my life, and it makes me unimaginably happy that they have the opportunity to spoil Oliver as well 🙂 Oliver loves the silly songs that Meemaw makes up for him, and is content to sleep away an afternoon in her arms. PawPaw loves taking his “Big Guy” for strolls around our neighborhood, and I love seeing how proud he is to be my son’s great-grandfather.
Oliver has not yet had the opportunity to meet Vik’s grandmas (his Dadi and Nani), both of whom live in India, nor has he met my Dad’s mom, who lives in Iowa but is not well enough to travel to see him. Nevertheless, they have all gotten to know Oliver through pictures and are already in love with him from afar!
Happy Grandparent’s Day to the wonderful grands and great-grands in our life! We love you all so much!
