My Dad, who was serving in Afghanistan for the better part of this year, finally came home earlier this month. We decided to fly out to Virginia to meet him at the base, and then spend the weekend with my family celebrating his SAFE return. It was such a happy and fun weekend, filled with lots of hugs and tears of joy (and relief)!
Here we are with my mom, eagerly (and very impatiently) waiting for my Dad’s squadron to arrive at the base. We were a little concerned when we saw that everyone else had their soldier’s name on their signs — then we realized that my Dad was probably the only “Grandpa” in the group, so we were likely okay

Eagerly Awaiting Ben/Grandpa/Dad's Arrival!
Here we are posing with the squadron “mascot.” Oliver thought the red horse was super cool:

Welcome Home, Red Horse Squadron!
And here are the reunion photos:

Mom and Dad

My Dad and Oliver had not seen each other since Christmas -- it was hard to tell who was happier to see who!

Oliver decided to hang back and welcome the stragglers!
Welcome home, Dad/Grandpa! We missed you SO MUCH!

So glad to hear…I did not know that he was gone for so long. Anyway …all’s well that ends well! Warm regards to your mom and dad. Love Gouri
